As of this year, 2020, the World’s population stands at 7.67 billion persons with 17,423 recorded people groups. Over half of these persons (58.4%) and over half of these people groups (57.5%) have been reached with the Gospel of Jesus Christ (the people groups are counted as occurring once per country). According to these statistics put forward, the Gospel message is being accepted more on an individual level than on a “people group” level.

Of the 17,423 recorded people groups, 10,013 have been reached with the Gospel. However, among those 10,013 people groups only 3,237 (18.6%) can be classified as “Significantly Reached“. “Significantly Reached” is a status given for any people group where more than 10% of the individuals within the group are Active Evangelicals and Professing Christians. Also, of the 10,013 people groups reached, 3,768 (21.6%) are “Partially Reached” (Active Christian workers make up more than 2% but less than 10%), 1,820 (10.4%) are “Superficially Reached” (Less than 2% of Evangelicals but more than 50% of Professing Christians in general), and 1,188 (6.8%) are “Minimally Reached” (Evangelicals are less than 2% and Professing Christians are less than 50% but more than 5%).

Despite the statistics showing favourable global results, there is still work that needs to be done in the famed 10/40 window. The 10/40 window refers to the countries that are located between 10 and 40 degrees north of the Equator. Such regions would include most of Europe, North and Central Africa, the Middle East, Central Asia, the Indian Sub-Continent, East Asia, and South-East Asia. Of the 5.11 billion people living in this window, approximately 3.09 billion (60.5%) have still not been reached with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

This therefore shows us that there is still a lot of work to be done. Therefore, let’s work together in spreading the Gospel message of Jesus Christ.
